The Ultimate Guide to the Christmas Party

'Tis the season to find the ultimate party outfit, wow your colleagues and dance the night away. Yes, Christmas parties are just around the corner and it's time to get searching for the best dress, shoes and all the bits in between. So whether it's a fancy and formal do you're off to, or a wild, champagne and cocktail evening where the invitation simply suggests: SEQUINS AND GLITTER. I have got the Ultimate guide for you and all the options you could possibly have wished for...

The "ONLY SPARKLE ALLOWED" Party

She's So Lucy // Christmas Party Style Guide

For my Christmas party last year I went all out and stumbled upon the beautiful brand that is Needle & Thread. I chose a bejewelled black version of this beautiful burgundy number, and despite the price tag, this one is tempting me again. It's Christmas after all, when else are you going to find the opportunity to be covered in sequins and sparkle? A fluffy clutch like this one from Whistles will add some extra texture and fun to your outfit, and these chic black heels promise supermodel legs all night long.

The "CINDERELLA WILL GO TO THE BALL" Party

If, like me, you've got a fancy sit down meal for your Christmas party this year, it's only right that you go all out and get the gown. Think simple yet sophisticated like this scarlet floor length dress from ASOS. Team it with a Grecian jewelled head piece and some matching heels and whether or not you misplace your sparkly slipper at midnight after a few too many glasses of champagne, Prince Charming will be sure to rescue you when you're looking the belle of the ball. Don't forget some vampish lips like the fabulous new NARS Audacious lipstick.

The "SEXY DRESS + KILLER HEELS + LIPSTICK = YOU'RE GOOD TO GO, GIRL" Party
She's So Lucy // Christmas Party Style Guide
Matte Revolution in Sexy Sienna, Matte Revolution in Love Liberty, K.I.S.S.I.N.G in Bitch Perfect, K.I.S.S.I.N.G in Night Crimson, Rio Bardot Bodycon Dress, Verity Scallop Dress, Freda Velvet Midi Dress, Madilynn Lurex Bodycon Dress, Valentina Lace Up Heels, Sam Edelman Heels, ASOS Halcyon Heels, New Look Black Gold Sandals
Sometimes, all you need is the help of Missguided to promise you a fabulous party dress for under £30. Whether you want sexy, body con, velvet or glitter you're guaranteed to find something. Why not treat yourself to an early Christmas present to yourself with a Charlotte Tilbury lipstick which will stay put all night, even when you've been having a moment or two under the mistletoe. I'm currently lusting after those Sam Edelman heels, no matter how sore my feet may get after dancing to Christmas songs all night long.

The "TONIGHT, I AM BEYONCÉ" Party
She's So Lucy // Christmas Party Style Guide

Sequin Bodycon Dress, Fine Gold Rings, Whistles Faux Fur Clutch, ASOS Halcyon Heels, Matte Revolution in Bond Girl, Crown Headband
Recently Beyoncé wore this velvet sequin dress from Topshop to the New York flagship launch of the store, so if you feel that you're ready to unleash your inner Beyoncé, grab this whilst you can. And while you're at it, why not grab this gorgeous gold crown from ASOS to prove that with the dress + legs + moves, you really are Queen B (she says through gritted teeth as there's only ONE Queen B and that's Britney!)

The "GLITTER AND GLAMOUR IS ONLY ACCEPTABLE THIS TIME OF YEAR" Party

Needle & Thread Embellished Geo Tulle Dress, Faux Fur Cuddle Clutch, River Island Block Heeled Glitter Sandals, Kimono Sequin Dress, Leather Embossed Shoulder Bag, Orelia Wonderlust Necklace, ASOS Holly Heels, Needle & Thread Iridescent Tulle Dress, Whistles Leather Clutch, Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl, Carvela Gabriel Gold Sandals
Keep the glitter coming! It may be Christmastime, the time for fun and festivities but you can still remain a chic, classy, glamorous lady with these outfits. Needle & Thread were calling my name once again with this beautiful cream dress and gorgeous long sleeved burgundy dress. Alternatively why not try this navy kimono sequinned dress from ASOS and team it with this beautiful lilac leather bag. Finally, finish your outfit off with a glass of something fizzy and sparkly and the night is all yours.

The "SCREW THE DRESS, IT'S PLAYSUIT SEASON" Party
She's So Lucy // Christmas Party Style Guide

Oasis Playsuit, Playsuit with Lace Detailing, Nars Audacious in Claudia, Michael Kors Gold Watch, Rebel Glitter Heels
Sometimes, it's time for a change which is why a black playsuit could be the answer for you. Both of these have beautiful lace detailing, yet remain simple and understated all the while still making you look like you've made an effort. I'm loving this bright fuchsia lipstick which is guaranteed to add a fake glow to your complexion and get you looking ready to party. This is also a definite must for those of you who have been assigned designated driver for the night as you won't have to be in that constant situation of stripping off every time you've had too many glasses of wine and are back in the toilets again....

The "IT'S A 90s REVIVAL" Party
She's So Lucy // Christmas Party Style Guide

Two Tone Sequin Tee, Liquid Metallic Cami, Lurex Crop Tee, Black Joni Jeans, Rizo Feather Strap Heels, Relish Metallic Heels, Lena Platform Heels
Biased I may be but I'm convinced the 90s was the ultimate era, especially when it came to fun party outfits (see Rachel Green in Friends circa 1996). This look requires barely any effort or thinking. Throw on a pair of high waisted black skinny jeans and head to Topshop for your pick of the navel flashing crop tops they have to offer. This glittery green top is selling like hot cakes but comes in a variety of different colours. Team with a pair of stroppy platform heels and go and request some Spice Girls and you'll get the whole party thinking it's 1999 all over again.

The "LIVIN' LA DOLCE VITA" Party

I'm still having an epic Marina moment and I can't get this look I've associated with her and the song FROOT (amazing) out of my mind. This silver metallic skirt is ridiculous yet with a bardot style crop top, some fluffy 90s Carrie Bradshaw heels and some glamorous make up, this is the Ultimate party girls outfit. No matter the theme of the party or the formality, you'll look perfect and totally on trend. A definite contender for my party outfit.

The "ALL YOU NEED IS AN LBD" Party

When you don't want to make a fuss, a simple little black dress is the answer. This one from Topshop is seriously figure flattering with it's skater style skirt, accentuating your waist and making it the perfect dancing dress. Add and take away with a fluffy fur coat or a glitter bomb of a bag. This special edition bottle of Dolce & Gabbana's The One is the perfect party scent as it's sexy yet feminine and warming, making you the whole party's favourite person.

The "IT'S NOT CHRISTMAS WITHOUT A CHEESY CHRISTMAS JUMPER" Party

Santa's Workshop Jumper, Pale Blue Sequin Santa Jumper, Happy Holidays Jumper, Filthy Animal Jumper, Glitter Joni Jeans
She's So Lucy // Christmas Party Style Guide

This couldn't be called the Ultimate Christmas Party Guide without a section dedicated to Christmas Jumpers! They are absolutely everywhere this year, from the cheep and cheerful in Primark, to the glam and cosy in Topshop. Even try men's jumpers as they've got some great choices too. If you're planning some drinks with your colleagues, friends or family, why not suggest that everyone has to wear the most ridiculous, novelty Christmas jumper they can find? Throw it over a dress, or why not try these amazing glitter Joni jeans which just scream Christmas.

...DON'T FORGET THE MAKE-UP
She's So Lucy // Christmas Party Style Guide

And finally, don't forget that this is not the time of the year to scrimp or be safe with your make up. There are tonnes of sparkly Christmas palettes out there, and 'Tis the season for a red lip (fa la la la la, la la la la...). My base of choice is the YSL Fusion Ink foundation which is velvet soft to the touch on your skin, completely weightless and has a great lasting power, especially when you're dancing the night away and becoming a sweaty mess as this contains oils that evaporate upon contact with the skin (aka your oiliness will not stand a chance with this foundation). Charlotte Tilbury's make up is firmly on my Christmas List to Santa, though what's stopping you now? Think sparkle, dark lips and glowing and sculpted skin and you'll be good to go.

    1. It's beautiful isn't it? Yay, I'm glad to hear you found this helpful. It can be so stressful without you ever intending for it to be, can't it? My first Christmas party this year is on Saturday and I'm still torn, ah! xx
