Christmas Gift Guide: For mum, best friend & little sister

Christmas Day is edging closer and it seems so many of us are still trying to keep up and search for the perfect presents to give loved ones the Christmas.
Take a deep breath, I've got you sorted (and again, I seriously need to take a piece of my own advice there). In the final part of my Christmas Gift Guide, I've got you sorted for some seriously important yet dare I say, most difficult to buy for ladies.
Pens and paper ready, it's time to go shopping for your mum, your best friend/older sister and your younger sister.

Christmas Gift Guide: For Him

Men are difficult. But what's new? But they become even more difficult at Christmas. Perhaps that's just a female opinion however they're pretty much so unfussy that it makes finding a gift for them ten times more complicated. Hopefully however, this gift guide will do just half of the work for you.

YouTube and More

GOSH, I feel like despite having posted last Monday, my blog and YouTube has suddenly hit the back burner. Put it this way - I'm in my final year of University. In the next 3/4 weeks I need to have RESEARCHED and WRITTEN approximately 8,000 (it may sound doable to you but please be kind to me, I'm fragile right now); alongside do training for a position I'm in at work, then actually GO to work; I need to do blog planning, editing, posting yada yada yada AND the same with YouTube; plus go to Scotland for 5 days; PLUS film a video for work; PLUS just have a life and sleep and eat and drink wine.
Please, your sympathies would be nice right now.

INDULGE: Dirty Burgers at GPT

One early Autumn evening, James and I decided to try out somewhere totally new for an INDULGE evening. GPT is a Smokehouse just down the road from us and describes itself as a "vibrant, dynamic venue with a focus on great, locally sourced food". Sounds alright to us.

It was a fairly quiet evening when we took a visit. We were immediately struck by the quirky interior and the intimacy of the place. Filled with large, cosy leather sofas and a circus-esque bar, it felt totally the vibe we were after.

With a glass of wine in hand and we were prepared to get dirty (Not Christina Aguilera Dirrty, pardon you). This was a 'go hard or get the hell out of here' type menu and we were up for it.
Starting with sticky, smoky, sweet chicken wings...

Go grab yourself a cup of peppermint tea, and to all my oily, shiny skinned ladies out there - I see you! This one is for you and I hope you enjoy...

Oily Skin 101

I've got a video coming your way shortly on my tips and tricks for oily skin, aka, one of the biggest banes of my life.
If you have oily skin or combination skin, I hear your pain. It can be an absolute nightmare. Different companies tell you one thing and which products you should be using whereas your skin is telling you a whole other story.

Green Juicin'

Beyond The Kale Bath Menu Opening Hours Review Vegan Vegetarian Health Cafe Bath She's So Lucy
Ah the humble green juice. Many moons ago, any form of green food would have had me running for all the packets of Maltesers I could find. Now, they've taken over me and have transformed me into a Green Loving Monster. Tenderstem broccoli, avocado, KALE (I couldn't be a true GLM if I didn't love kale...).
There's a health food shop called Beyond The Kale where I live (blog post coming soon aaaaaall about it) where I've been stopping off regularly on my way to work or on my way to a lecture to pick up a green juice. Here is the Vitamin C Booster which is pineapple, orange, celery and kale. Weird combination, I know but believe me, when this is blitzed and blended together it is delicious.
I'm always rather sceptical of all things containing orange or pineapple as both are high sugar fruits meaning they mess my system, hormones and skin up, but so far my skin doesn't seem to have had a green juice related eruption. They didn't even put a massive amount of pineapple or orange into the mix anyway.
It's safe to say I'm rather addicted to green juices now, and I've been eyeing up the NutriBullet for a little while too.

Are you a fan of green juices?

[YouTube] Topshop, Primark and Whole Foods Haul

Woohoo, we finally have a new video! I won't lie, I had some mega issues with YouTube trying to upload this. Nevertheless, here's my most recent video - a HAUL! Something tells me that my next video may be another haul but we'll see..... oops.

So, it's Sunday morning, you're probably still in bed, go quickly grab a nice warm drink and cosy up to watch this.
Meanwhile, I'm off to work....!

Enjoy, and please like, comment and subscribe.

A trip back home

As I mentioned in my previous post, I recently decided to go back home for a few days to see my friends and family. My summers mostly consist of me having to stay at work not only because they need me there but also in order to simply afford my rent. This then unfortunately means I barely get to see my mum, brother, dog and friends, sob.

So, on the rare occasion that I was back in town I made it my priority that I met up with my favourite ladies. As most of my friends now have all moved away for University, it's difficult for us all to meet up on a regular basis so this was one gigantic catch up.
I always experience rather mixed feelings when I return to Winchester. I went to school and college in Winchester and didn't have the happiest of memories there however I do appreciate that despite that, it is a rather lovely city.
Louise and Izzy insisted that we came to Nicola's Tea Shop for some lunch and what we do best, a good old gossip!
I tucked into a fish finger sandwich, my favourite if I'm up for a bit of a treat lunch (though nothings compares to my Dad's). We discussed everything from boys to blogs, work and university and just a good old general catch up.

Later that evening, Katie, Louise and I all went to visit our friend Maya for the last barbecue of the year and caught up with other old school-friends too.

Patrick

Recently I took a trip back to my Mum's for a few days. As always, part of me always feels far too excited to be reunited with our dog, Patrick. I think half the tears I cried when I moved away from home were mainly for him!
He's a Jack Russell x Whippet and is the naughtiest dog on this Earth (just speak to my Mother, she has stories to tell...)
It was a lovely afternoon when I returned home so here are a few pictures I captured when I was playing around with my camera.
PS. That's fish skin he's chewing on. Revolting, I know.

Before I go to sleep...

Yes, yes that is chocolate before bed. Naughty I know. In my defence, I only had two and oh my they were delicious.
These were a little treat from James and he knows me too well to know that despite my dark chocolate preaching ways, anything caramel is my weakness and the key to my heart (dark chocolate AND caramel however = different story).

Tomorrow is my first day back at University for my third and final year. I suppose it's bittersweet. I have hated every single moment of University, or rather mainly my experience as a student. If you go back to my first post on the blog, you'll understand. My University course, though not the most classically academic, is still quite bloody hard and actually rather interesting.
The end line is in sight, I've seen my last deadline will be the 5th May (MADNESS) and so all the while I'm so ready for it all to be over and I can finally get on with my life, I'm still dreading the whole workload and how I'll juggle my whole life alongside it.

Right, now time for me to get snuggled, watch some YouTube and sleep away into the next week.

See you all tomorrow, my next YouTube video should be live tomorrow too....

[YouTube] A Few of My Favourite Things

Yep, I've done it! For years, and I mean YEARS I have been contemplating doing YouTube videos. Since discovering FleurDeForce and Zoella many moons ago before they turned into the mammoth YouTubers they are now, amongst finding other wonderful YouTubers along the way, I have always dreamt of making my own videos.

So, here we are, what may be the beginning of the end or the end of the beginning.....

My channel is going to be an add-on of my blog, a place for hauls and what beauty products are working for me; health and healthy eating and why/how I eat low carb; and also a place where I post recipes and review cook books and all sorts; all alongside my life in general.
It's easy to watch all these YouTube channels and think "I could do that" or fall into the trap of being a carbon copy of someone else. I've had a vision in my mind for far too long and it's time to just get on with things and go for it.

My first video is entitled 'A Few of My Favourite Things' which just gives you the low down on all the random bits and pieces that I've been loving recently. I hope you enjoy it, and no, I have no idea how it became about 16 minutes long but hey-ho.
More to come soon....!

Please subscribe if you like what you see too....

Munchin' on Brunch

It was one of those days when the plans for the day just weren't happening. James was refusing to wake up and roll out of bed, whereas I on the other hand was wide awake and feeling hangry (hungry + angry). One of the biggest sins of the book is that you don't mess with a hungry Lucy, and when Lucy does't have breakfast, disaster strikes!

Maze Grill, London

Recently for James' birthday I decided to treat him to a weekend away in London. Staying in Earl's Court, we were only ever a short tube trip to whichever destination we fancied.

Mallorca

After what seems like a lifetime, James and I finally jetted off on our summer holiday to Mallorca. Now, we had a few issues unfortunately with our hotel (long story short, we booked a room with a balcony; room had no balcony and was instead a box room with bars on the windows; manager refused to help us; holiday company moved us to a new hotel; cue holiday paradise... I have a TripAdvisor review HERE).

Despite the initial hiccups, we ended up having the most relaxing holiday we could have imagined. We've both been working hard all year and spent a fortune on our holiday so it was all worth it in the end. Waking up to skies brighter and bluer than you can ever imagine, 30 degrees of heat everyday, we never wanted it to end. The luxurious hotel we were moved to was a secluded rural hotel, only a 5 minute walk from the restaurants and beach. It was quiet, peaceful - just what we needed.

Here's a selection of some of my favourite pictures. Mind you, the majority are of James in a new shirt, eating food but hey, that's what holidays are all about right? Dressing up and eating your body weight in bread, olives and alioi (ah, the alioli!).

Bills, Bath

Bills, Bills, Bills.

When Bill Granger's quirky, cosy restaurant came to Bath last summer, it felt like all my Christmases and birthdays had come at once. Now, it's a firm favourite restaurant of mine in Bath, with an ever changing menu, full of delicious comforting, wholesome dishes and just the best desserts.
